A roof that is almost flat or lightly bent is named a flat roof or low slope roof. You won’t find an entirely flat roof because it needs at least a small slope to drain.

  • A low-slope roof has an incline smaller than 3-in-12. Meaning that for each horizontal foot, the roof standard goes up less than 3 inches vertically.
  • A steep-slope roof needs gravity to make water run in a specific direction so it can discard the water over the cracks in the shingles until it moves to the end.

Current Low-slope roofs or Flat roofs use a connected membrane coating which can better hold pools of persisting water. These membranes are implemented as united layers, connected with heat-welding or adhesives.

Commonly, low-slope or flat roofs would use a built-up roof made of tar and gravel.

Nowadays, this traditional type of roofing experiences low performance, high cost & environmental concerns requiring solutions with more advantages.

A good Low Slope/Flat Roof should:

  • Have good performance against the strong wind,
  • Endure freezing temperatures,
  • Protect from the UV that comes from the sun,
  • Withstand expansion and contraction without affecting the ability to hold and scatter water.

If you want this high performance from the Low Slope Roof, you need to have a well-engineered attachment, seaming & weathering.

For your luck, Roofers LLC can deliver a well-executed installation that will provide all those benefits and more!

Flat Roofing in Greenville SC: The Ultimate Guide for Reliable and Cost-Effective Solutions

When it comes to roofing options, flat commercial roofs have gained popularity due to their sleek design, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. In Greenville, South Carolina, homeowners, and businesses alike are increasingly opting for flat roofing solutions. This comprehensive guide will provide valuable insights into the benefits, materials, installation process, maintenance, and reliable contractors for flat roofing in Greenville, SC.

Understanding the Benefits of Flat Roofing

Flat roofs are often more affordable to install compared to sloped roofs due to their simpler design and fewer materials required.

Space utilization

Flat roofs offer the opportunity to create usable rooftop spaces for recreational purposes, gardens, or solar panel installations.

Energy efficiency

Flat roofing allows for the installation of cool roof coatings, which can reflect sunlight and reduce the energy consumption required to cool the building.

Easy access and maintenance

Flat roofs provide easy access for inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Popular Flat Roofing Materials

Built-Up Roofing (BUR)

BUR consists of multiple layers of asphalt or coal tar, reinforced with fiberglass or organic felts. It provides excellent waterproofing and durability.

Modified Bitumen (MB)

MB roofs are made of asphalt with modifiers, such as rubber or plastic, for added flexibility and resistance to temperature fluctuations.

Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO)

TPO roofs are single-ply membranes made of a blend of ethylene propylene rubber and polypropylene. They offer exceptional UV resistance and energy efficiency.

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM)

EPDM roofs are made of a synthetic rubber material that provides superior durability, flexibility, and resistance to weathering.

Installation Process for Flat Roofing

Consultation and planning

A professional roofing contractor will assess the building’s needs, discuss budget considerations, and recommend suitable flat roofing materials.

The existing roof is inspected, and any necessary commercial flat roof repair or modification is made. The surface is cleaned, and proper insulation is installed to ensure energy efficiency.

Waterproofing and membrane installation

Depending on the chosen roofing material, the contractor will install layers of waterproofing materials and adhere to the flat roof membrane.

Flashing and edging

Flashing is installed around protrusions and edges to prevent water penetration. Proper edge detailing ensures a secure and watertight connection to the building.

Final touches

The contractor will conduct a thorough inspection, ensuring the new roof is properly sealed and all components are in place. Proper drainage systems, such as gutters and downspouts, are installed to direct water away from the building.

Maintenance Tips for Flat Roofing

Regular inspections

Schedule periodic inspections to identify and address any signs of damage or deterioration promptly.

Clear debris

Keep the roof surface free of debris, as accumulated leaves or branches can block drainage systems and cause water pooling.

Check for leaks

Perform regular checks for leaks or water stains on the ceiling. Address any signs of moisture promptly to prevent further damage.

Clean gutters and downspouts

Clear gutters and downspouts from debris to ensure proper water drainage.

Trim nearby trees

Overhanging branches can damage the roof membrane. Trim trees in close proximity to avoid potential risks.

Roofers LLC was absolutely amazing! We were hit with roof damage after the storm on 12/23 and the owner of the company happily came out same day to check on the extent with no hesitation. Within a few days we had the tarps up and soon after the roof was fixed! All done with no hesitation right at Christmas when most other businesses would wave you away. I couldn't be happier with the work done and will be suggesting this company to my real estate clients to ensure they are also in good hands!

By far the best company I have done business with in a long time. The price was good for all the work involved and quality materials. They have options for financing that others don't offer. David and Diego have superb communication skills and responded to every phone call. Very meticulous with Parker's supervision on site during all the installation process including the cleanup. I highly recommend them. This company exceeded my expectations and went the extra mile to make sure I was completely satisfied and happy with the entire job. The crew was also great . Well mannered and respectful. My neighbors even commented on how quiet and professional they worked. Great team and company. God bless and great success. 👏👍

These guys were the key component in a very favorable roof damage insurance experience. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Knowing we have little kids they even sent a guy to do an additional sweep of construction nails around the house a day later just to make sure cleanup was done right. All quotes and costs were accurate and everything done in a timely manner. I had little experience with my insurance provider but these guys help answer all those questions and made communication seamless. Job well done! God bless

These guys were fantastic. Great sales team, professional and fast installers! This whole stressful process was made incredibly easy by these guys. 100% would recommend them to anyone. Unfortunately my insurance would not cover or even help with the cost of my new roof. Roofers LLC ended up doing my roof for $8000 less than I thought I was going to have to pay. I’m beyond happy and impressed.

Excellent service from beginning to end. Our roof had storm damage. Kenny came out, did inspection and met with insurance adjuster. Replacement was approved. The crew that did work were professional, showed up on time and finished in a timely manner. The property was immaculate when they left. Parker was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Great experience! Thanks to you all.
